Docosanol 10% cream is a topical treatment for recurrent episodes of cold sores or fever blisters. The active ingredient is docosanol, which exhibits antiviral activity against many lipid enveloped viruses including herpes simplex virus (HSV).

Docosanol 10% cream is marketed in North America under the band name abreva® by our marketing partner, GlaxoSmithKline. Sales and marketing activities for abreva in the U.S. were initiated in October 2000. Abreva is the brand most recommended by pharmacists for the treatment of cold sores.
